Bagshot village plan questionnaire

The Bagshot Village Plan questionnaire has been printed and is being distributed this week. This is an important document for the future of Bagshot because it gives all of us who live or work in Bagshot a opportunity to share our views and ideas about Bagshot. By the end of the week, every household in Bagshot should have received a copy of the questionnaire through the letterbox.

Completed questionnaires are being collected at the Post Office, library, churches, Connaught and Bagshot schools, Park House Surgery and the Village Cafe. You can also download and print extra copies of the questionnaire here (download questionnaire).

The questionnaire is due back by Mon 7th December.

High Street crossing issue

From PC Jason Pill
“At Neighbourhood Panel  Meeting earlier this year raised a concern was from a number of Bagshot residents regarding Bagshot High Street and the visibility of the new pedestrian crossing.  It was felt by many of those at the meeting that the crossing was not particularly well sign posted and that because of this motorists were arriving at it and not noticing pedestrians who were about to cross. Reports had been received by the local Neighbourhood Team from residents with what was described as “near misses”. On Wednesday 29th April 2009 a street meeting took place with Senior Engineer Martin Leppard of Surrey County Council Highways. It was agreed that the new pedestrian crossing in the High Street did require improvement where its visibility was concerned. With this in mind it was agreed that two new signs would be put up on street lampposts either side of the crossing. These will be triangle warning signs and will possibly be against bright yellow rectangular boards to improve their effect.

It is thought that the work on this will be carried out within the next couple of months.

Martin Leppard also mentioned that a 20mph zone was being considered for the High Street, although it would be some time before a decision was made.

As result of the above and bearing in mind the SCC Highways Departments consideration of the speed limit in this area this ZJ Neighbourhood Issue has now been closed.”

What’s on Guide for Young People

2009_whats_on_leaflet_frontWVYP (Windle Valley Youth Project) has just published The Young People’s Guide to Bagshot, Lightwater and Windlesham.  The idea for the booklet came from a survey and feedback from young people.  The Guide lists things to do and clubs young people can join in the Windle Valley, as well as pointing to a heap of useful information and help about health and safety.

You can pick up a copy of The Guide in the Village Cafe (and hopefully the library and other shops soon) or download it from the WVYP website.  Huge thanks to Windlesham Parish Council who kindly contributed towards the costs.
